New Year, new life

Hi everyone, since New Years is a good time to reflect and count your blessings I figure I will continue the thankfulness tradition. Sure, this year hasn't been without its share of ups and downs. It seems like yesterday (actually a few years back..2010) we were on our own with nothing but a few euros to our name and have managed to save enough to make it a living and then some. Through it all, and on a personal note, I like to think we've done well with the advantages we were handed. 2011 was a good year and I'm pretty sure 2012 will be even better. So here is my thankful-for list.

We are able to help those who have not had our luck, even though it isn't always much
We are blessed with good health
Travis has gotten out of his spoilt stage
Hopefully we have accumulated a bit of ''wisdumb'' from our past mistakes
We are financially independent and stable, and gosh, is that a great feeling!

I'm a total sucker for Christmas time. I do so love Christmas! Maybe it's cause I've spent many Christmases in hot third world countries, where I felt virtually no Christmas spirit. So now that I'm back in whimsical Italy where the streets get decorated, where it gets cold outside and stays toasty inside.....I don't know, it's virtually impossible to not feel festive and decorate a month early.

Clearly Travis is a Christmas enthusiast like me. Here he is breaking out in song as soon as we started decorating the tree.

I have had to press the delete button to a lot of drafts lately. The one reason is that when I feel the urge to write it's usually about something that bothers me, or that somebody who happens to make my blood boil. As women, we tend to be very repressed, we don't want to be labeled crazy, so we repress our anger, sadness or frustrations- It's no wonder we become that angst y, passive aggressive person that puts smiley face after every reprimanding letter, just to take the edge off the swing. We close our mouths and finally blow up and get downright bitchy.

So now it's time to get crazy. ----I've had enough with all the facebookery, twittery, one sided chatter. I know its awfully hypocritical that I'm here murmuring about it on my blog, but I like to think I'm approachable. If you have something against me, talk to me privately. Don't make a Facebook status intended for me, and leave out my name. Thanks alot~~

Country life

Living in this town just keeps getting better. The old (and young) still stare, but it doesn't bother me as much as it used to. The priest has stopped trying to convert me. Travis is on a first name basis with about every mommy, daddy and child on the block.

But there are elements that make living in a small town ..... slightly tedious.

Example: a simple question such as 'Why has Travis not gone to school this morning?'' is pretty harmless the first time around. I smile politely and explain in broken Italian the long winded version of why, and then stroll down to the park, which is fifty meters away. It takes me an hour to get there as I encounter five ladies along the way---who all ask the same question. The answer seems to be cleaner and less choppy the fifth time around. So yes, I'm seeing the bright side to all this painful talking, but still....it gets a bit boring, just like the sweet old folks sitting on thier front porches waving at cars going by.

Even the priest warned me about this; small towns spawn the friendliest, gossipiest, (aka. caring) people you will ever meet. Obviously you have to care about someone to talk about them so much. If the word on the streets are true, Tim is a soldier working for Obama, who has gone AWOL. Very exite!

Another interesting factor to living in a town is you know everyone, not even superficially I might add. I know my neighbor has temper problems. Just like they know my son throws temper tantrums on a daily basis when its time for him to go inside the house.

Anyhow, all that to say. There are days I really don't feel like going out and talking with people. And there are days where everything is swell, people are friendly and I am forced to use my Italian. As I often tell people who think I'm shy... I'm not shy I'm just lazy.

Oh and P.S; No. Timmy is not a soldier working for Obama, who has gone AWOL ;D.

The Hefty Child

Nothing boils my blood more then seeing my son get pushed around by bigger stronger children. I feel it is the parent's place to correct their bullying children. I am a non-confrontational person but I will snap if someone lays a hand on my child.

.. So there is this ''hefty'' older girl (PURE evil) who has a habit of punching travis when she thinks I am not looking. Travis happens to like her, heavens knows why. He takes her bullying as a game, and even hits her back playfully. Today I realized she kind of likes him too, and the way she shows her love is by calling him names. The worst thing she could come up with was ''Sei un brutto scorpione''. I couldn't stop laughing at this girl projecting her wonderful qualities on my son....

Yesterday John (Tim's dad) thought it would be fun to see a huge house we used to live in. I have some bad memories and of course some great ones. After all that is where Travis was born, where he took his first steps, where we lived communally, and where my life took a drastic turn. There was always some kind of drama so life was never boring.

We aproached from the back. A chain was tied together with a rope (we didn't technically break in). As if on auto pilot I opened the back gate and let Travis run up the familiar sidewalk. He seemed to remember everything and ran straight to the front door.

Once inside the garden my paranoia started kicking in when I saw that someone must have been there recently, the grass was freshly cut, the windows were open, bottles lay around.

I wish I hadn't gone inside, but inside was a whole lot worse. The glass to the window doors for our bedroom was broken into, so we could walk straight inside. What looked like worms and sand now covered the floor and fireplace- I followed a horrible stench to find some rotten provisioning in a corner- I felt a bit creeped out to be honest. Maybe it was just 'cause my nerves screaming at me to get out of there, that any second cops would spring out from behind the doors and bust us. Fortunately, no such exiting thing happened but that didn't stop me from making a dash for the car.

The garden is finally looking a bit decent-like. I got tired of the jungle back there, as well as the neighbors with their prim trees, perfectly manicured lawns and looks of scorn. No we are not vagabonds, just...like, hello, really busy with lots of important things to do. After much waiting, we, (Tim and friends) chainsawed three rotten trees that were desperately trying to take the lives of the smaller trees and our house.

Aaand after much work, our unfinished garden is no longer an eyesore. Still, there are things to do, but at least Travis can play! So nice

HOW TO BE RUDE

Sometimes I say stupid things, and I mean REALLY stupid things. I remember once when I was 11, while driving through San Fransisco streets, I stated observations about an obvious difference between Asia and America..

--the ''larger'' people. I felt a jab to my ribs, and my sister making frantic gestures at our driver whom I had't noticed was more then a ''little overweight''. I tried to fix up my mess by '' Theyre not THAT overweight, I'm sure if they worked out it wouldn't be a problem''. The more I talked the bigger the hole I dug for myself. The driver swerved, stepped on the breaks and stomped away from the car. My sister proceeded to kick me some more. I will always remember what an idiot I felt like, and how I made that poor girl feel. Moral of the story, when you don't know what to say, STFU! (Excuse the French)

We all have our opinions, which are sometimes better left unexpressed. If someone asks you your opinion, you are entitled to say what you think (and they are not entitled to get offended because they asked you.) But when you give unsolicited advice, or make negative observations about someone, in front of said someone...you are being rude plain and simple.

I hope I'm not being rude copying this article. It really struck a chord with me today.

INTERRUPT, interrupt, interrupt, constantly, always, interrupt, interrupt.
Interrupt, INTERRUPT, interrupt. Interrupt, INterrrrupt.
At times preface by saying: “I don’t mean to interrupt. . . . “
Talk over. Really talk over. When you can’t interrupt talk over the other person. I mean, really. This one along with #1 are favorite of some choice Customer Service Centers, you call with an issue, they ask you to explain the problem and what happen, and then 10 seconds into a long story they interrupt telling you exactly the wrong thing and when you try to object they talk over you.
Be condescending. Don’t you just love the Rudeness Trifecta of being interrupted, being talked over all with a condescending tone? Priceless.
Change what you said before by telling the person in front of you, who was there, what happened (because they are too imbecile to understand by themselves). Say something like “You misunderstood” or, better “You’re wrong!” and then proceed with “Let me explain it to you, again, what I said was Yellow, not Red “ and/or “What I meant to say by Red was Blue”.
Instead of saying “Thank you” for something that you have received, or for something nice that someone has done for you; try to find some faults with it: “Did you see this scratch?” It helps if you have a magnifying lens or, better a microscope. In absence of any of those, just find a scratch, anything has a scratch here and there, even if it has to be an imaginary scratch, and even if you yourself have to put a scratch on while nobody is looking.
Always arrive late. And upon arrival go about business as usual, the later you are, the better. If the meeting or function has started without you, just announce “Don’t mind me, I’ll catch up”, then breathe, avoid asking any question, and make sure to use the Rudeness Trifecta to make bold statements, don’t mind that the topic has already been dealt, take control of the meeting and steer it toward your agenda, the goal is to prove the answer you already have in you. Always refer to #10.
If it’s 2:30 and the meeting or function has not started because everyone was waiting for you, just casually say: Did we say 2 o’ clock or 3 o’clock? I think we said 3 o’clock, but since we are all here early let’s just start, shall we?
Never truly apologize. Just use the “I’m sorry” as if it were a Monopoli’s Get out of jail Free card, the beauty is that you can use it over and over and over. No need to do anything else, you can continue to do what you did before, you did say “I’m sorry”. If called upon just use the Rudeness Trifecta and say “I did say that I was sorry” you can add “what else do you want me to say?” without waiting for an answer, continue to monopolize and steer the conversation where you want it to do, interrupt if need to do so. Do not fall into the trap of saying “what else do you want me to do?”. Never do anything when someone else can do it for you, it’s called delegation, and you can take the credit for being a good delegator (note #5), or blame the other person for not doing it correctly.
Never commit to anything. Be as vague as you possibly can, just use the Rudeness Trifecta to establish authority. If called upon missed deadlines face-to-face see #9, if by phone of via email you have choices:
- Do not pick up the phone call;
- Pick up and say you are on the other line;
- Pick up and say that you are busy in a meeting, or catching a flight, or having dinner with the Rockefellers or Bono, or make up a sad story;
- “Let me look into it and I’ll get back to you”
- “Call me back in a week if I haven’t gotten back to you by then”
- If the call waiting beeps: “That’s another call, I have to go now”
- “I never got the email, can you re-send it?”
- “I am traveling to Bogota….” or “I’m about to have dinner with Bono and the Rockefellers” make sure that the bottom of the email says “Sent from my iPhone”. (Note, you can add “Sent from my iPhone” to any email sent from any computer, from home, office, gmail…..)
When a discussion takes a turn that you don’t like, you have multiple options:
- Start talking about something else completely unrelated.
- While the other person is talking, just casually walk away from the room.
- Make a phone call, start texting, check your emails.
- Use the Rudeness Trifecta and say “Don’t speak to me with that tone of voice” or“Don’t talk to me that way” or keep repeating “You’re wrong . . . . I don’t think so . . . . “. If talking about business you can always say “Why don’t you go ask someone who knows” or – especially if talking about a function of their job - “You probably don’t know it.”
- For Advanced Users Only: Pull the “Look over there”, as in “Look over there, the sun is out (or the clouds), can you believe that?” make use of the Rudeness Trifecta.
- As a last resort you can start to cry, male or female, it works wonders; make sure other people notice the person who made you cry.
Last, but not least: If confronted on any of the points above just proclaim “That’s Rude!“

Talents.

Hi all, I really do like how quiet my blog is. Seriously, it makes it so easy for me to share my heart without the immediate feedback I get on FB. So here goes.

So like, most of my life I have known what I was good at. It seems that after having a kid, along with many life changes that came with it, I have forgotten what exactly those talents were. Lately I asked myself; What is it that only I can do? Where do I add the most value? What is really fun for me as opposed to merely urgent? Without having to think very long the answer seemed clear...Painting!

I enjoy art! Shocker! .

So the past few months I have watched tutorial after tutorial and researched what I need to get me started and let me tell you, starting from scratch is ... um... costly.

So here is what I thought; If anyone would like to sponsors some paints, even a gift of fifty euros will be enough to get me started. As a bonus I will send you my first painting (exciting!!!!). I have experience with portraits. If you would like one, send a pic and a donation. If you are into abstract design and style, give me the color schemes you want and I will get creative and hopefully you will be pleased with the results. Lajatico

We moved to Lajatico about a month back. We found a cute, not so little house which I am pretty pleased with. Now that we are settled I am looking into getting my driver's liscence and get some things in order. Here are a few pictures of the place.

Holidays.............

I am in Perugia right now. It has been a busy month... there has been the traveling, the work, (or in my case the housewife work). I came up with Tim's parents while Tim stays somewhere in the mountains with some of his best buddies, recuperating from last month's non stop work.

Here are a few pictures from the Christmas season for all my friends and few family who don't have facebook. Merry belated Christmas and happy new year.

My beautiful, naughty, adorable child.I love you more then anything in this world. I would walk over fire for you, give up my legs, even jump out of a plane to help you. I am amazed by how much you can love something so small. I never thought I could love someone as much as I do you. You haven't always been the easiest child.... although your enthusiasm and love of life can be tiring for me, its also amusing, entertaining and a whole lot of fun! You are full of emotion. Your smile could light a universe. Your laugh is so contagious that I cant help but laugh with you! No matter what you do you will always be mine, and my heart will always be yours.

Mini family reunion and other happenings.

I posted these pictures on Facebook, but for those of you who dont go there, Im posting them here.
Alot has happened these past months (January). One of the cool things has been my dad visiting us, We havent seen eachther in 20 years and since then he has gone through a lot of things in his life, some really major . It really broke my heart to hear of what happened these past years, but despite all that happened to him he remains positive and very sweet. I got to brush up on my rusty Spanish which was cool. Anyway, here are a few photos of our mini family reunion.

Timmy has a job...he is basically a contractor for a gas company. Doesnt sound too exiting but at least its something as jobs are pretty hard to find nowadays. We are saving up to start open our own (smaller) home.

Worth a read (Something I read today)

Am I thankful?

Sure I am. As long as it’s convenient.

As long as the gift-giver is within ear’s reach of my thank you. And as long as what I’m thankful for is good, comfortable, pleasant and smells great.

I never thank anyone for rolling over my toe with their cart in the grocery store or thank someone for an unkind word. And I never thank God for struggles.

I mean, how stupid would I sound:

Thank you, God, for NO MONEY to pay our bills today.

Thank you that my 1-year-old has emotional outbursts every morning that reduces him to a pile of tears on the bathroom floor.

Thanks for spilled apple juice, dried and sticky on the floor.

Thank you, God, for the rejection of friends and that crazy mean email last week. Thank you for the tears it cost.

Thank you for the argument I had with my husband last night. Thank you, God, that he doesn’t understand me.

No.

We are usually thankful for blessings.

Gifts. Encouragement. Provision.

We send thank-you notes to mothers and cousins for baby gifts and Christmas packages. We call our friends and thank them for the gift they gave us. We are grateful for warm beds and fireplaces that glow in our family rooms.

We are thankful because it’s easy and expected.

But the sweet times, the easy-flowing happy times are not what shape me. I am comfortable and will stay the same if everything always goes my way.

Discomfort is the only way I grow. And I am never grateful for sitting in the valley of hurt and pain. I’m never thankful when things don’t work out like I planned.

I stamp my feet instead and no-fair God. I tell Him He doesn’t know what it's like to be me.

I’m not changed in the lots-of-money, kids-are-well, husband-adores-me days.

But I am changed in the second-argument-this-week-with-my-mom, worried-about-my-kid days.

This is when I’m moved to trust. I have to because nothing else works.

These are the days when God comes in and under-girds my heart with His own, turns my head to refocus my attention and then asks me to trust.

And I should be grateful that He thinks enough of me to carefully craft difficulty to edge me toward beauty, kindness, and grace with pressure.

I don’t want to just be thankful for the easy. I want to be grateful for the hard. And that involves a choice...one I'm making today.

Trust

I wish I had some sort of profound understanding of this concept. I never really thought about it until today, but trust weaves everything together just like distrust pulls apart even the tightest of threads.

Through trust children learn to walk because they know that if they take that risky step or two, there is safety in nearby arms. They raise their hands and answer questions in class because they trust the teacher will respond and the class won’t laugh. Then later in life they trust their friends and their lovers with their feelings, their dreams, their secrets.

In fact, maybe some form of trust is necessary for every bit of progress and happiness in life. Trust in others, trust in our own abilities to be okay even if no arms catch us and the floor appears fast and hard on the horizon.

Whats been up

It’s not as if I don’t have anything I feel like writing about; it’s just that I’m too ~~lazy~~ tired to write anything worth reading.

So, with that, I thought this would be a good time to post photos I took last month when Dyllan and Mike were still here. I dont have many, just went out to see their relatives and that was cool.

Besides that, there are some changes in the air (as is probably the case in most homes). Im not going to talk about it much as talking about your project seems to spread your energy in every direction other than towards completion so we will see how this plays out. Ouchies

Almost every baby I know of has fallen off the bed at some point. I would pride myself for never letting that happen, thinking ''Gosh, those irresponsible mothers'' sure enough......at ten months old, Travis fell off the bed for the first time. I turned my back for two seconds to shut the curtains, by the time I turned around he had lunged himself over. Of course I didn't get there in time. My only only consolation was that we have a very low bed so besides a bruise and mark that lasted a few days due to the irregular floor pattern, he was alright. It still freaked the hell out of me and struck a blow to my SR clean record of no bumps for Travis.

And no, Travis does not own a pink stroller, its just such a joy for him to be driven around, didnt have the heart to take him out.

The Studio warming party

So the team from Portugal who came here have almost finished their album and thats something very noteworthy as the last time they came here to record we hadn't built the studio which is something they had expected us to get done. All that we had built was the floor, windows and stairs. That in itself was a huge miracle as before there was nothing but an ugly cement floor, no windows and a ladder that led to the ''hay'' loft...minus the hay.

But here we have the studio, we provisioned all the material for it and it is a huge breakthrough and took tons of work so yay.

As you can see the floors are at their polished best.

So we had a little studio warming party with drinks and portugese music. Most people got to have some chill time.

Teething sucks!

Sorry for the lack of unoriginality of the title but really, there's no beating around the pun in this case, we are in survival mode here as Tra is teething his ass off. And I'm scratching my head trying to think of ways to distract him.

Anyhow, its not all that bad. I realize hes actually a pretty good boy, that is when hes teeth are taking a break from pushing thier way out. Hes also way too cute for his own good. Every time I can't think he can't get any more adorable, he does. Starting when he was around three or four months old, I think I started saying, "this is it. This is the best age ever. He can't possibly get any cuter than this." And then, by golly, he did. He did even funnier more engaging things.

Now is the season visitors come over, in true murphys law fashion, the weather all of a sudden got terrible and rainy. it should be sunny now but the weather is real unpredictable. I LOVE IT! The cool weather that is.

Accomplishments

Sorry for not updating... Again my excuse is that of having a life (--or not having a life it all depends on how you look at it) cause yes, Travis keeps me busy as do home duties etc,.

So some happenings areb Joys mom came to visit. Shes Swedish and as you can see it shows up in Travis genes. Oh yes and these are also four generationsIm very proud of my boy, he is super active and has learned a bunch this past month. Some of his skills are:
1. he can scoot himself along furniture

2. He can sing, tries to talk, scream, etc..

3. He climbs up furniture

And he can crawl too! just to name a few things.

First time at a beach

We went out with John and Joy to the nearest rocky mountain slash beach. Its beautiful but very dangerous to bring small kids. Thankfully Travis is still little so he can be carried and doesnt get too far when he crawls.

He is usually terrified of cold water in his bath time and shower time etc,.. Surprisingly enough he loved the cold beach waters, he was a perfect angel the whole time and wanted to throw himself in completely
We got to tan (*sunburn) nicely while travis slept in the shade. All in all it was pretty good time. Here are some cute photos of the sweetie.

Flying Men

We live near a flying school and there are always parachuters practicing how to land. So far we ve seen them landing miles off target. You know, on top of trees and peoples houses etc,. Kidding but yeah they arent always so precise with their aiming.
For months Timmy was saying that one of those parachuters were going to land in our garden. Sure enough the other day a man landed in our garden. I ran out to take pics and I thought hede be all embarrassed but instead was all like "Sure no problem" and proceeded to comb his hair and start posing He said his friend had landed in the mud and being the picky Italian he was he opted a clean landing, aka. our garden.

Yes cant let a post go by without mentioning this fella.

Tra is getting quite the attitude, his new thing is shaking his head when he doesn't want to go somewhere or do something. I don't know where he got this from. Hes also getting way cuter by the day. His only problems (or rather our only problems) are his sleeping habits are kinda screwed up. This morning he woke up at four with bright eyes and a mischievous grin. I let him play in his crib hoping he would fall back asleep but after about an hour of hearing him squeal/scream/gurgle in his bed, Tim and I were at breaking point.

Still cant get angry at him....Were just very.very.tired.

All Work, and No Play

You know, it's been a long, long day here at home...... the flowers are blooming, the birds have been chirping but Allergy season has hit here.
I have no energy for much these days. Work is frustrating, mostly because I’m good at what I do and see so much potential; yet, somehow, the quality of time I spend working is pretty much zero. Of course its because I'm always with my cutey (cant complain)and cook a meal about every day. But at the end of the day... whoo...

So its my wnr night tonight. I think I actually might have the time to blog. I don't mean blogging as in posting a photo, but actually like typing out some words. So we just finished Home Counsel at 10.30 and I am ready to write when I realize that I will still have to wake up tomorrow at five with Travis. Yes, lately hes been up before it gets light and wont go back to sleep, just crawl backwards till he reaches the end of his crib and then will start making weird noises which I try to ignore.

But anyhow despite the fact I cant remember what its like to sleep through the night and sometimes.... well sometimes I long for a time for myself..... I can say I am way happier then when I was a single or when it was just the two of us and wede get bored on wnr, and wow, cant even remember those days.. seems like such a long time ago.

Sanselpolcro

We went to Sansepolcro for a week to visit some friends and do Follow up. It was one of the better trips Ive been on, Ive uploaded alot of photos on Facebook as its faster to do it there. But Ill post a couple here, the trip was good, alot of fun to be out of the house and Travis loved being out in nature.

Among the happenings of the trip, Timmy was going out to a party and happened to find 250 euros in the parking lot. Hes super lucky when it comes to finding or winning money.

I’ve been watching, listening and reading the news.

I am also mothering a whiny teething baby that has kept me up most the night, and, because of that, I am very bad company at the moment. I also realize that it is impossible to blog when the monitor is fogged from steam coming out of one’s ears. I thought a little diversion from troubles of the day is in order.
Heres something I came across, another youtube phenomenem which has gotten over 11 million views..

Other news is that well be going to Sansepolcro for a week for Follow Up.

Carnaval

I wasnt there, but here are some photos taken at the carnaval which our whole home participated in and\or organized. So now, after a week under hairpulling prep, the living room being alive with the annoying sound of the High School Musical, the bedrooms abuzz with seamstresses inventing new costumes, people learning to walk on stilts and pirates having invaded our house, its all over.its over.

Since I havent had a 'Me' post in a long time

So Facebook has the ''25 things about myself.'' and though normally I dont usually have time for these things..

1. With coffee I rule the world.

2. I love travel and havent stayed in one country for more then two years

3. I took ballet, hip hop, belly dancing, hindi dancing, basically every kind of dance class and I could say I suck at them all . But there's a bit of false modesty in that, I think.

4. Since having Travis, Ive worked out an average of 1 and a half times a week.

5. I haven’t seen my family for five years. I love them but wouldn’t want to live with them

6. I took aspirin maybe 2 times in my life.

7. I appreciate my privacy.

8. I used to have more guy friends then girl friends

9. Not that I don’t have a huge feminine streak but for the most part I don’t idle chit chat about makeup, boob jobs, who’s fat and who’s skinny. I do however keep an interest in people and their lives but prefer for people to not probe into mine too much

10. I’ve always hated taking care of kids (still do.) but I love taking care of my own kid.

11. My tastes have been exceptionally altered since having a kid. Example, I now don’t like cooked foods so much. I don’t crave coffee (obvious ). I no longer like hard alcohol, I love beer

12. Never took painkillers, antibiotics. (with the exception of during my C section)

13. Derive my inspiration off artists, athletes, musicians, etc..

14. I will probably always see people for more than they are

15. Was once punched by a man with a stump for an arm

16. Have the gift of attracting weirdoes and psycho paths. That may explain the above.

17. I’m attracted to friendly unassuming people. not the in your face people, drama queens

18. I’ve always been the Jew of my family when it came to saving.. I guess its my karma as I’m with someone that believe money is meant for spending lavishly.

19. Like bald, or blonde babies.. (everything that my baby is)

20. Think musicals are cheesy, I don’t like romantic comedies either. Prefer dramas, or even documentaries to dorky teen movies.

21. I’m a closet romantic with big expectations of my boyfriend, etc.

I was just thinking how sometimes kids like to play with toys that resemble themselves. Example: My brother who resembled a piglet when little (in his defense the piglet was cute) seemed to always be carrying a piglet in his baby photos. Travis like his daddy who looked like a duck when he was little, prefers his ducky over all his other cuddlies.

The season's bug

Man, Ive been busy just trying to be a good mom, wife and home member. But I guess I have time to post something.

As is often heard around here, “We love the changing of the seasons.” Today – not so much. the temperature outside is in the single digits. Travis has been sick for some time now and Ive kept him in a warm room and away from the other sick kids. Just today we brought him to the clinic as hes been congested for more then a week. By the time we got the appointment he was already somewhat healed so that was nice.

Rudy and Tra

Its cute to see babies interactions with others. Travis is a very social baby, has something to do with living with alot of people, especially older children. Yesterday, some friends that I met at the hospital where I gave birth came over and brought their son Rudy to play with Travis. My sick Baby and I.

Since having the baby, Ive been home (duh)alot. Between pulling out my hair trying to take care of the little and spending the bulk of the day alternately cleaning and nodding off I havent had time to make out a coherent thought much less blog about it. Nevertheless I will try to jot something down, it may not make much sense.

So Travis has been on and off again sick for the past couple days. Its been a bit hard as hes usually well behaved, some people think he might be getting early teeth since hes drooling alot, so the other night we scheduled a home outing but after a full day of taking care of a very fussy Travis, I decided to stay. After much coercion, Timmy s parents forced me to come. Not surprisingly, the dinner was an unqualified success. Adult beverages were consumed, leaving others slightly ragged around the edges today. I'm glad I went, it turned out to be fun night. The baby was fine and Ive been home much too long for my liking.

Just a few more days

Haven't been many pics of me and my child lately.

So I finally managed to get someone to hold the camera and click, wasnt the greatest shot. As you can see this is the only one that I'm not smiling but also the only one that didn't come out a complete blur. The traditional card with both of us will come later when Timmy is home from the commercial centers, (and we have the time to enjoy it cause its all finally over).

More news is that Vida came over here. It's been great to finally meet her. Today we did our Christmas shopping together.... the whole deal, cramming the car with buggies, the classic nursing together, then ending up carrying our crying babies. Last year I would have never imagined me doing this. It was quite a feat and since I'm rather new to the whole baby shopping bonanza, (Ive always loathed shopping) I found it tough. But Vida was so cute saying she was so happy that she could do all the shopping and have someone drive her!! The things we take forgranted.

Anyhow was a fun mommys day, I should do that more often.

Righty then, Merry Christmas everyone. Just a few days and we can celebrate.

Seriously now..??

I am crabby. Here are but a few reasons why:

1.Timmy, Travis and I got sick with the flu so that was pretty ill timed, christmas push and all.

2. Travis is still ailing

3. Though Italy is alot of things, user friendly is not one of them. I had to stand in line just to get an appointment for a checkup, then later another line in order to get get a simple paper saying I can get checked. and then another line just to wait for the actual checkup..But..PTL.... Italy has its blessings. Italy has made me patient, Italy has made me ''Bella''. More importantly, Italy has made me a mother.

Speaking of mother, Ive got my first mothers checkup, or should I say first checkup after the birth. As much as Ive had my fair share of invasive checkups during the pregnancy and all, this one seriously took the cake. (WARNING.. Not for sensitive readers)

There was a new doctor, he seemed pretty normal untill it came time to do his work in which he turned out to be Mister Bruto. Kept raising his voice with me and kept telling me not to close my legs when I really wasnt, maybe just cringing cause it was so friggin painful...''you gave birth it shouldnt hurt you,''

So I used some of my kickboxing moves on him and folded him up like a piece of lawn furniture.

No, I didn't. But I was sorely, sorely tempted. Only the presence of my mother in law stopped me, since I have been trying very hard as of late to curtail those behaviors which could possibly end me up in cellblock.

As we drove home, I got to thinking about my experience with Italian doctors, (That is, after I snapped out of a twenty minute trance during which I replayed my fantasy version of How This Scene Would Have Gone in Christina's Perfect World, which culminated in me unveiling my true identity as the overseer of Pontedera Hospital and firing that cow on the spot, despite his tearfully pathetic groveling. No, I don't have an anger management problem.)

I dont know what it is but the Italian hospital system and italian doctors suck. Maybe its just Pontedera Hospital, but this is just a warning for those who want to have thier babies here.

Ahem so... you didnt have to read all this, its just fresh in my thoughts. any how, on with my happy posting of pics..

Happy Birthday Timmy!!

While true love is everlasting and all that, it’s first glimpse is truly shallow. I saw a picture of this man over 4 years ago, and wondered what it would be like to live with him. I never expected that in a few years I would be married to him and mother his baby. Everybody probably thinks this about this about their husbands,wives,girlfriends boyfriends, but I think my husband is handsome inside and out.

I just have to say that whatever good deed it was I did to merit such a wonderful guy; it must have been so great. My wish is that my kid to find someone that is perfect for him, like Timmy is perfect for me. Take note, I did not say he’s perfect. I just said he’s perfect for me. That is a bit of a difference. He is generous to a fault, he makes me laugh harder than anybody I've ever known, and he takes care of me. He still thinks he got lucky when he got me. I think it's the other way around, but I won't argue with him.

And since he reads this blog faithfully, let me just say, "Happy birthday babey!"

I just want you to know that I couldn't do this without you. You are the one person in this life that I can depend on. Thank you for taking care of me in so many ways.
Weve been together for two of your birthdays... what a lot weve been through in such a short time.

Christmas Time

This weekend starts the beginning of the festive season, Ive been thinking recently how this year holds a very different Christmas for me. I'm usually on OR, fundraising, or performing, etc... Christmas pushes gets crazy, not sure how and why, but they do. A couple years ago I've had some difficulty getting into the spirit of Christmas. Now that I think about it, when I say a couple years ago I guess I mean my whole adult slash teen life I've struggled with this and I've wondered why. Maybe you have the same difficulty. Even mentioning the phrase "the spirit of Christmas" would raise a few issues for me. I guess it was just the stress of it all. Of course in the end I have to say the souls saved made it worth the colds, coughs and lack of sleep. Things actually happen during Christmas time and though stressful its been exciting.

For the first time Im wondering where my place is in all of this, especially in light of our first Christmas in the offensive. I'm almost happy for a little break but I will miss the soul saving and the outreach. In any case, I'm super happy with our little one, Hes growing up so much and Im just enjoying watching it happen. We also have a lot of sheep over at our house, so there will be plenty of witnessing to do. Also the baby is quite the flirt with the ladies and smiles at the sheep

Travis is changing so much every day. He only wakes up two to three times a night and goes straight back to sleep. Hes quite ahead of his age as far as his mental alertness and strength. From the time he was two weeks old he would hold his head up for long periods of time. Now you cant leave him alone on the diaper changer or hell push his way over the edge. dangerous fella

Space for All

Its been awhile since Ive had a nice room. Ive never been super picky with rooms and changing them so long as I have a decent roomies that liked to keep the room looking fairly decent and neat. In my last home Ive changed rooms about every month. While that was nice and all, having a baby requires a little more stability. Since we've moved here we didn't know if we were going to stay or not so we didn't do that many room changes. As soon as I got pregnant we decided that some things had to change. Though the room we were in was spacious, it had its cons, the first being that we didnt really have walls.

There was (still is)nt much privacy as the wall sized window is adjacent to the kitchen and all of upstairs etc. As far as noise the kitchen is...well right through the door and here in Italy everything happens in the kitchen so we are the first to hear it start and the last to hear it end. After living in a room like this for almost a year handy Tim decided it was time to fill the space between the kitchen and our cupboard in our room with lots of forsake all clothes, fibre glass, rubber erasers, basically anything to block out the noise. It worked and our room is noise free.

1 month

Travis is now a month old. Ive been getting him on a feeding schedule and that has really helped him (and me) get more sleep.
Hes also caught a cold I think the reason being that our room is warm and the rest of the house is extremely cold.

Hes doing a bit better now thank God. Please keep him in your prayers

Getting back

I'm not exactly clear on when we're supposed to be able to get it "together." As of late, I've lacked any sense of motivation to get out of milk stained bras and t-shirts, and back into "life" - whatever that is these days. I'm still floating in that weird space where I'm pretty close to being immediately post-partum, but far enough from it that I should be inching back in the saddle again, not necessarily because I have someone or something telling me to get with it, but because there are deadlines looming over me. Exciting deadlines. But deadlines just the same.
The baby has been getting fussier, hes now three weeks and I hope its ''just a phase''. Heh.I'm going through a bit of a rough patch as far as sleep goes, but I'm sure Ill be out of it pretty soon ('out of it' in the good sense)

My pooch is growing so much every day. His personality is becoming more interesting His facial expressions keep changing, and his sleeping hours seem to be getting less.... or so it seems its just at night. With him I find any type of recreational activity (such as sleep) a luxury but hes such an angel and I still haven't gotten over the magic of it all.

Righty then, Ill be getting some sleep now, Ill regret not getting it later..

Its late and my baby is wide awake. Things are slowly coming along, my incision is healing, the baby is getting somewhat of a schedule He's actually a very peaceful baby....most the time like during the day.

My Angel

The baby is very calm, the only downside is he keeps us up all night. We got him checked up today and all is well, hes gaining more weight which is good as he was a tad underweight when born. I think Ive taken my good health for granted, Ive never been the one to get sick so often. Now the smallest functions seem hard. When you become dependent on someone else it makes you thankful for the little things. Timmy's helping me alot for which Im grateful.
